// WHO_THEY_ARE

ProRemaps — Independent ECU & TCU Specialists

Based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, ProRemaps are an independent ECU and TCU tuning company operating at the highest level of the industry. Their calibration engineers write every map in-house using bespoke software development environments — not off-the-shelf generic files.

Backed by a 4,000Nm linked four-wheel-drive dynamometer, ProRemaps verify every calibration with hard data — dyno proven, real-world tested.

Power & Performance UK and ProRemaps have worked closely together for years, developing a relationship built on shared standards: precision over shortcuts, genuine tools over grey-market hardware, and custom calibrations over generic templates.

// THE_DIFFERENCE

Not All Remaps Are Created Equal

Just like no two music tracks are the same, no two cars are the same. Many single-operator setups sell generic, one-size-fits-all map files that ignore everything unique about your vehicle.

Generic Off-the-Shelf Maps

  • Written for an "average" version of your car
  • Ignores your vehicle's actual mileage and condition
  • No account taken of modifications or fuel quality
  • Pushed to limits with no safety margins per vehicle
  • Often sourced from third-party file repositories
  • May reduce engine lifespan through excess stress

Our Custom ProRemaps Calibrations

  • Written specifically to your car's mileage and condition
  • Accounts for your exact modification and fuelling setup
  • Precision-engineered to operate within safe engine limits
  • Optimises power, torque, throttle response AND economy
  • Preserves engine component lifespan — not just peak figures
  • Every file developed in-house by ProRemaps engineers

How Our Collaboration Works

Every remap we carry out follows a structured, multi-stage process jointly developed between Power & Performance UK and ProRemaps over years of working together.

Step 01

Health Check & Vehicle Assessment

Master technician Dawud performs a full vehicle health check to confirm the car is in the right condition for tuning — checking for faults, mechanical condition, mileage and any existing modifications.

Step 02

ECU File Read

Using our genuine, licensed Alientech KESS3 hardware we read a precise copy of your vehicle's current ECU software via OBD, bench or boot mode — the safest and most complete method available.

Step 03

Secure Transmission to ProRemaps

Your ECU file is securely transmitted to ProRemaps' servers in Huddersfield, where their calibration engineers receive it directly into their bespoke development environment.

Step 04

Custom Map Development

ProRemaps engineers write a precision calibration unique to your car — accounting for mileage, condition, fuel quality, and modifications. This is never a generic off-the-shelf file.

Step 05

Write, Test & Verify

The finished map is returned to us, written back to your ECU, and then road tested and verified. Power, torque, throttle response and economy are all assessed before the vehicle is handed back.

// LICENSED_TOOLS

Genuine Alientech KESS3 — The Industry Standard

We use only genuine, fully licensed Alientech hardware to read and write ECU software. Genuine tools are the product of multi-million pound R&D programmes — robust, stable, and distributed worldwide through strict dealer networks.

Our tool firmware is updated daily, giving us access to the latest protocols as soon as they are released. A "protocol" is essentially an authenticated access key to a specific ECU — each one undergoes months of rigorous engineering and real-world BETA testing before release.

What Goes Into Every Protocol

Before a single new ECU type can be tuned safely, Alientech's engineers invest months of reverse engineering and live-vehicle testing. Here's what that process involves:

Reverse Engineering & Mapping

Engineers analyse newly released ECUs from manufacturers such as Bosch, Continental and Delphi to reverse-engineer their proprietary communication methods.

Multimode Implementation

Parameters are developed to allow tuning via standard OBD port, direct Bench connection, or Boot mode — covering even the most security-locked modern ECUs.

Checksum Correction

Every new protocol requires precise mathematical algorithms to calculate and correct checksums, preventing data corruption during the flash process.

Live Data & Datalogging

Protocol design extends to real-time sensor monitoring, allowing our technicians to pull live data logs directly from vehicle sensors during and after tuning.

The Hidden Danger of Unlicensed Tools

There are tuners in the market who not only use generic files — they cut a further corner by operating with grey market, unlicensed copies of professional hardware. Here's what that actually means for your vehicle.

Unstable Chinese Counterfeit Hardware

Unlicensed tools are often reverse-engineered copies of genuine hardware, manufactured without quality control. They lack the engineering rigour of products backed by multi-million pound R&D programmes.

No Access to Latest Protocols

Being unlicensed, these tools are locked out of manufacturer update networks. They run outdated protocol libraries, meaning they may attempt to flash ECUs using incomplete or incorrect access methods.

Incorrect or Missing Checksum Calculation

Checksum errors during a flash can corrupt ECU firmware permanently. Genuine tools have certified algorithms developed specifically for each ECU. Counterfeit tools frequently get this wrong — or skip it entirely.

No Recovery Support When It Goes Wrong

Licensed tool users have direct manufacturer support lines and recovery procedures for failed writes. Unlicensed operators have none of this — and when an ECU is bricked, they have no path to fix it.

A Bricked ECU — and You Pay the Price

A failed flash from an unlicensed tool can leave your ECU in a completely non-functional "bricked" state — the vehicle simply will not start. Without manufacturer support or certified recovery tools, there is often no fix short of a full ECU replacement.

When this happens, the tuner — operating without insurance cover for unlicensed tooling — will routinely decline liability. The customer is left facing a main dealer ECU replacement bill that can run into the thousands. This is not a rare edge case; it is a known and documented consequence of grey market tuning operations.

We use only genuine, licensed Alientech hardware — covered, supported, and certified.
